About the Teacher

I hold a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a master's degree from William Carey University. I have been at Mamie Martin for my entire teaching career.  I have been a first grade teacher, a second grade teacher, a transitional teacher and the librarian.  This is my fifteenth year in the library.  I really enjoy this job, and I love Mamie Martin Elementary.

I was born in Brookhaven in the old Silver Cross Nursing Home on North Jackson Street, which was Kings Daughter's Hospital at that time, and have lived here for most of my life.  Mamie Martin is the first school that I attended, and I graduated from Brookhaven High School. My bachelor's degree is from the University of Southern Mississippi, and my master's degree is from William Carey University. I am married to the former Hyok Yo Kim of Anui, South Kyeongsung Province, South Korea.  We are empty nesters, and do almost everything together. We enjoy traveling, especially to South Korea, and Montana, where our three grandchildren live. We no longer enjoy cooking, so we like to try new restaurants, and yard work  Also, I like to sit down with a good murder mystery, when time allows. We share our yard with a corgi/beagle dog named Melby and a cat, which I refer to  as Cat Kid.
