About the Teacher

B.S.  Elementary Education William Carey University 

Hello!  My name is Amanda Thurman, and I am a kindergarten teacher at Mamie Martin.  I have been teaching at Martin for the past fourteen years.  I was born and raised in Brookhaven. I graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1997. I attended Co-lin and William Carey where I recieved a degree in Elementary Education.  

My husband is Ryan Thurman.  He is the pastor at Central Baptist Church.  I have two children, Ashlyn and Mitchell Ryan.  Ashlyn is in 6th grade at Lipsey Middle School and Mitchell Ryan is in 2nd grade this year.    

I love making a difference in children's lives!  I love my students as my own!!
